Spotfire Nest Vs. Cross Category Mode
Sometimes we come across the sitation where we are interested in keeping Categories, regardless of data is filtered out for that category. For such situations, we need to use Cross rather than Nest Category mode. Wait, what are they in frist place ?
When we use more than one column in Categorical Axis, they show us a category and subcategories. By default, the subcategories are populated based on the data available after filtering and only those columns are visible for which at least one value is available. This is typical Nest Category mode.
By when we need those categories, regardless of any inherited data is present; the Category mode is called Cross.
Steps
- Go to Properties
- Under Category Axis, Click on Settings.
- Select Evaluate axis expression on "All Data"
- Click on "Show Heirarchy Options"
- Select "Use All possible options(Cross)"
- Click OK
