I am writing this article to give a very basic information about using OData in Spotfire. 💁 I have been using Spotfire X while writing the steps to follow along -
Setting up Data Source with OData
When we have to use the same OData feed multiple times(may be different views), Setting up a Data Source is a good Idea.
To get started, to open Manage Data Connection Dialogue- Add menu helps:
Soon after clicking on it, Manage Data Connection Interface opens. Here things are pretty simple, just select appropriate Options as indicated below -
Soon after that, OData Connection Dialogue appears. Fill in required fields and click Connect
Review Data Source Settings and Save. Now you can use this data source whenever you need by browsing through library.
Data Connections
These are specific view of Data Connections, and like Data Sources they can be configured in Manage Data Connection interface only -
Only Difference here is, after clicking Connect in OData Connection Dialogue , an new window appears -
Here, you need to configure Data you need to use before saving to Library.
Alternative Approach - Connect to OData without saving connection to Library
Although, it is best to use Connection and Data Sources if we are Going to reuse stuffs multiple times; however there is possibility for single use OData pulls as well. I am not putting much details as the Dialogues are very similar to above two approaches (and I am Lazy too 💤 )
For Spotfire X
For Spotfire 7.x
